Business Development and Project Manager

The ideal candidate will want to play a significant role in the growth of an innovative organization in the field of electronics recycling and a circular economy. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, with the ability to apply business acumen to ecological and social initiatives in developing  countries. We seek someone with strong business and interpersonal skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND PARTNERSHIP MANAGEMENT
o Develop and implement new financing solutions for e-waste projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.
o Build new and maintain existing relations with project partners and stakeholders in developing countries.
o Identify new funding sources & building new partnerships (e.g. perform research, write grant proposals, etc.).
o Together with team, manage and coordinate a network of operational partners in Europe (e.g. transport companies, recyclers, etc.).
o Support the team in maintaining good relations with WorldLoop strategic partners, sponsors, stakeholders and e-waste expert platforms.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
o Manage the knowledge network of WorldLoop.
o Manage current project portfolio, i.e. identify, evaluate and coordinate the needs of beneficiary partners in developing countries and provide  business and technical assistance via the WorldLoop network to the projects.
o Tracking against sustainability objectives of projects (financial, environmental, health & safety).
o Coordinate transboundary shipment process of e-waste with support of shipping company in the WorldLoop network.
o Provide administrative support on the development and implementation of projects (e.g. draft contracts, process documentation, follow-up,  etc.).
o Prepare donor and stakeholder reports.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATION SUPPORT

o Support the Communications Team on marketing & communication activities (e.g. provide content for website updates, newsletter, annual report, social media, event logistics, reviewing press releases, input on targeted campaigns to achieve organizational objectives, etc.)
o Develop training modules for African recycling partners, with support of communications team and external vendors.
o Support communications team in researching new opportunities (events, awards, etc).
o Support communications team sharing industry

 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
o Together with Communications Team, maintain WorldLoop’s CRM system (for contacts, leads, opportunities).
o Support the administrative assistant in managing the accounts payable & receivable (e.g. generate invoices, follow up on payments, budget).
o Hands-on support with various administrative, ICT, facility and logistical tasks for the back-office of WorldLoop’s operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  •  To believe in WorldLoop’s mission and values and have a strong interest in sustainable business management, development & social entrepreneurship.
  • To believe in the value of development cooperation through private sector support.
  • To have a university or higher education degree (Master) in a relevant domain (economics,finance, commercial).
  • To have 3-5 years of relevant work experience in business development management and/or project management.
  • To be fluent in English, French and Dutch.
  • To possess strong analytical skills.
  • To have strong internal and external communication skills.
  • To be well-organized, detail-oriented and work efficiently.
  • To be able to work both independently as well as part of a team.
  • To be pro-active, self-motivated and flexible.

The following qualifications are considered a strong plus:

  • Experience or knowledge on finance and accounting.
  • Work experience in developing countries
  • Experience working with actors in developing countries and good intercultural sensitivity.
  • Experience with international logistics (packing/loading, inspection, permits, B/L, etc…)
  • Certification Project Cycle Management.

CONDITIONS

    • Candidate must be able to work legally within Belgium. WorldLoop is unable to offer work visa sponsorship.
    • Duty station: Pleinlaan 5 – 1050 Brussels – Belgium (WorldLoop is sharing offices with Close the Gap, WorldLoop’s founder).
    • Potential travel within Europe and field missions (mainly in sub-Saharan Africa) pending successful completion of a 6-month trial period.
