WorldLoop starts up e-waste recycling in West Africa

WorldLoop recently started two new exciting partnerships outside the East African region, expanding the geographical scope for sustainable e-waste management to West Africa as well.

By joining forces with Atelier du Bocage (AdB), a French ICT for development NGO with strong local presence in West Africa who supplies refurbished computers & mobile phones to ICT projects, AdB is able to scale up and expand their mobile phone collection programme, Click Vert in terms of geography as well as product collection scope.

AdB is currently active in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Madagascar providing e-waste collection and basic de-pollution services.

E-waste recycling activities in Senegal are also picking up. Together with Ecolec Spain, WorldLoop is supporting the Agency for the State Information Technology (ADIE) in Dakar to scale up a pilot project and recycle the hazardous & toxic fractions in a safe way. Within ADIE, the cell digital solidarity operates an e-waste take back and dismantling operation aimed at recycling of electronic waste from the public sector in Senegal and is an autonomous administrative structure attached to the Secretariat General of the Presidency of Senegal.
